As part of our broad and balanced curriculum offer, students participate in an enrichment activity on a Tuesday evening until 4.00pm. All students in Year 7-10 must attend enrichment as part of their formal curriculum and the enrichment session form part of students’ timetables.
In enrichment, students are given the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the normal curriculum, increase their cultural capital and develop interests which will hopefully last a lifetime. Importantly, enrichment also gives students the opportunity to work with children of other ages in a structured learning environment.
Enrichment activities are volunteered by teachers and chosen by students for a term or for the whole academic year depending upon the activity. Students are able to select from a menu of enrichment subjects so that they are engaged in activities which meet their preference and extend their learning experiences.
Students are asked to select preferences from categories including:
- Culture (including literature, film, language, social science)
- STEM and Enterprise
- Strategy Games
- Arts and Crafts
