Enrichment
Our aim is to provide our young people with a wide range of empowering and engaging activities that broaden and enrich their education outside the classroom.

We want to give students as many opportunities as possible to be healthy and active, to be curious and creative, to build social skills and confidence, and to develop perseverance and resilience. We know that pursuing a hobby is good for our students’ self-esteem and mental wellbeing and supports their academic achievement by providing an outlet for the stress and anxiety experienced by many of today’s teenagers.
At the heart of our enrichment offer, is our belief that extra-curricular activities should be inclusive. Where disadvantage could be a barrier to participation in an activity, we have invested money into equipment, expert coaching, and registration fees from external providers such as School of Skate and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. All our enrichment activities are inclusive to students with SEND, but we have also timetabled all-ability cycling sessions with social enterprise charity Bikeworks for a small group of students with SEND.
Finally, we actively engage with our students and ask them what activities they are interested in. As a result, we now offer cooking enrichment sessions six times a week for students from Year 7 to 13, as well as an incredibly popular Friday afternoon roller skating club in the academy Sports Hall.
