The Wider Curriculum
The ‘wider curriculum’ refers to students’ experience of learning beyond the classroom. At Harris Academy Chobham, the wider curriculum encompasses the huge array of extra-curricular activities in which all students participate.
These include but are not limited to:
- enrichment activities and clubs
- house events and interhouse sport competitions
- sports fixtures
- trips and activities days
- celebration days such as our Eid celebration day, Black History Month, International Women’s Day, and World Book Day
- careers events and drop-down days, including our annual World of Work Day and Year 10 work experience
- performing arts productions and showcases
- mentoring programmes with external providers such as BADU sport, Kinetic, Kicks and Act Up
- Chobham Experience, Harris Experience and Harris Experience Advanced programmes for our More Able students, including the Brilliant Club’s Scholar Programme
- Jack Petchy Award Scheme and Speak Out workshops
- youth leadership schemes such as Citizens UK
Our wider curriculum supports us in our mission to give our young people a truly enriched education and childhood, so that they can go into the world with the skills and confidence to be the best that they can be.
