Finally some athletics! 😫🙌 The students are finally back on both the track and field this term 🥳. Mr Okunja’s year 8 boys had their first ever javelin lesson as they focused on the technique of both handling & releasing of the javelin. 🎈🎈 https://t.co/Xcj3qJvC5X

Year 9 Preferences

At Chobham Academy we offer a three year Key Stage Three programme and a two year Key Stage Four (GCSE) programme. The three year Key Stage Three provides a broad foundation of knowledge which is built upon and specialised when students make their preferences. For many of our students this is the first time in their academic career they have made a choice about their education. It is important students alongside their parents make an informed choice. For that reason, the process is spread out over the spring term of Year 9 to allow a considered choice to be made.

The timetable below provides the timeline of the process.

Due to the remote nature of the Spring Term in 2021 we have made some changes to the programme while still allowing an informed choice.

Key dates during the Spring Term for the Option Choices process

Thursday 21st January

Year 9 GCSE Preference Launch Event

The GCSE Options process will be launched to parents and carers. This will be through the options booklet sent to students, parents and available below. A series of videos on the academies’ YouTube channel introduce both the process and the different subject choices.

http://bit.ly/PreferencesVideoLink

Students should also use unifrog to link their subject choices to potential career paths.

Wednesday 3rd  March

Year 9 Parent Consultation Evening. (held remotely)

An opportunity for you and your child to further explore different subject areas and ask questions about the process as a whole, whilst also receiving feedback on your child’s progress in Year 9.

Each child and parent will also meet with a member of the Academy Leadership Team to ensure that the choices they make are both informed and appropriate.

Friday 5th March

Deadline for preference forms to be submitted online.

Preference forms should be submitted online at: https://bit.ly/Year9Pref

Early July

Your child will be informed of their GCSE subjects.

Any questions about the preference process should be directed in the first instance to Mr Eyre, Vice Principal, at G.Eyre@chobhamacademy.org.uk.
